As web developer, I manage the Survey’s servers and develop websites and systems to make Survey data easily accessible to the public. Recently, I built a new database and web search interface for the Survey’s Publications Catalog. Additionally, the Survey has a trove of data collected over many years using many different electronic formats. I am working to help catalog that data and make it easy to access. This part of my work is the essence of electronic data preservation.
I enjoy the balance of data management and data visualization in this job. It’s very fulfilling to create new ways of understanding the data, while also structuring the systems behind it to run for many years to come.
