Formula: CdS Hexagonal

Description:

Greenockite is a bright yellow mineral formed by hydrothermal fluids. In Wisconsin it is rarely found associated with sphalerite in the deposits of the Upper Mississippi Valley zinc-lead district.

GRANT COUNTY: Occurs at the Trego Mine, on the north edge of Platteville. (Heyl et al., 1959).

IOWA COUNTY: Greenockite occurs at the Dodgeville Mine, Dodgeville. (Heyl et al., 1959).

LAFAYETTE COUNTY: Greenockite occurs at the Liberty Mine, near Jenkynsville, NE sec. 16 T.2N. R.1E. (Heyl et al., 1959).
